Martin Barillas is not just a leader in the Flint Hispanic community, he's been a major player on the national scene for years. He worked for the US Department of State as a Vice Counsel with Top Secret clearance, was the Regional Director for The National Endowment of Democracy, and was the Director of Spanish Radio News for the Republican National Committee all in Washington DC where he met with President's Ronald Reagan, George Herbert Walker Bush, and powerful Congressional members like Bob Dole and Jack Kemp. He later came home to Flint to work with the Flint Metro Housing Department as a leader of their Spanish speaking Bilingual Services leveraging his extensive governmental experience in helping Hispanic members of the community with housing needs and budget issues.
He's also the author of the brand new historical novel "Shaken Earth", which explores the explosive interrelations of the Hitler led German Nazi National Socialist movement with ongoing turmoil in Guatemala in the 1930's. His own father was involved in TWO REVOLUTIONS! This is entertaining experience speaking and it's exciting stuff.
