ShowsKathy McGee
Legendary Hall of Fame Basketball Coach March 10, 2021 When Kathy Mcgee was inducted in to the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2016, it was a familiar situation. She is also a member of the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Michigan Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Hall of Fame, Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame and the Laker High School Hall of Fame.
McGee coached women's basketball for decades at Flint Powers Catholic, where she led the Chargers to four state championships and 599 career wins against 153 losses for an incredible 80% winning record. Leaving Powers with more wins than any women's basketball coach in state history, she went on to an Assistant Coach role at Central Michigan University. She retired from coaching but has been instrumental in raising funds for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, and now the Cultural Center. It’s hard to imagine anyone more fully ingrained in to the Flintstone culture than Kathy. She continues to motivate, innovate, and breed success in her wake. While she is a great coach by any definition, she might be an equally great storyteller. Her tales of her favorite moments, teams and players will send a chill down your spine. When you spend time with her you can see how she creates an ambience of winning in all she does. We’re so proud to add her to our own illustrious Hall of Fame of magnificent guests. She doesn’t just fit right in, she lifts them up! |
