ShowsJohn Vance Band - Country and Classic Rock
Billy Gunther of Billy Gunther and the Midwest Riders - Country Singer and Musician May 25, 2022 Music is deeply rooted in the soul of Flint and Genesee County. From the Honolulu Conservatory of Music, to the Dort family support of music, from Grand Funk Railroad to the Dayton Family, from Dusty Owens to Ready For The World, it’s an amazing tapestry. Locally, numerous artists continue to build on this foundation, and few are doing it better right now than the John Vance Band and Billy Gunther and The Midwest Riders.
The JVB is certainly one of the premiere bands in the region, and they prove it with the passion, skill and most of all the versatility that comes from years of entertaining fans. Leader John Vance has built the group up with precision, featuring Flint’s own version of Hal Blaine on the drums Rick Hetherington, Gary “Dr. Guitar” Grierson, Larry Allen, and Jim Bailey. Not only are they a spectacular country band, they can handle pop, rock, blues, and the classics with equal skill. That’s why they continue to be a superstar tavern and bar attraction, along with leading festivals and events like Back To The Bricks. Joining them on this episode is Billy Gunther. Many think he is the next big thing in country music, and if you see him in action you are quite likely to agree. A product of Burton and Kearsley High School, Billy is a true musical triple threat: He can sing, write, and play - all at a very high level. Doing just one of those things well can make you a superstar, doing all three increases your odds dramatically! This is a special episode of Fish and The Flint Chronicles as both the John Vance Band and Billy Gunther are not only in the house, but they are also playing together for the very first time. You’ll hear original compositions by both John Vance and Billy Gunther, and you’ll hear Billy joining John, Rick and Gary for an impromptu jam session. It’s a unique and awesome musical dive in to the Aquarium! |
