Emmy Award Winning Animator Ira "Bootleg" Dorsey Legendary Rapper, and Hip Hop artist January 19, 2022 Emmy Award winner Ernie and regular on “Fish and The Flint Chronicles” is back for another leap in to the Aquarium. We invited one of our good friends, Ira “Bootleg” Dorsey, in to the tank to chat with us and Ern.
Now on the surface it may seem like a unique pairing. A world-class Emmy Award winning animator of children’s cartoons and an iconic hip-hop, “gangster” rapper, and leader of the famous (and infamous) Dayton Family, one black, one white, one from the North End, one from the East Side, one living back in Flint, one in sunny Hollywood, one an 80s kid, the other a 90s kid. Where’s the common themes? A mismatched pairing? Not at all! Well we think it’s a perfect pairing! First of all they’re both Flintstones--and legendary ‘Stones at that. Both grew up in Flint, and both are clearly products of their own eras, eras that defined their art and approach. Both came from tough 'hoods, and both had to overcome a lot to get to the pinnacles of their careers. But perhaps most important of all, they are both insanely creative storytellers! They just use different mediums, influences, and tools to convey their messages. In fact, that is a killer story on its own merit. We think bringing these two Flint creative masters together to discuss how they do what they do makes for a really unique set of ideas, skills, and talents that is uniquely Flint, and uniquely available only here at “Fish and The Flint Chronicles!” |
