ShowsCongressman Dan Kildee
February 20, 2019 This week Fish is visited by U. S. Congressman Dan Kildee, who is currently the Chief Deputy Majority Whip of the U.S. House of Representatives, and sits on the Ways and Means Committee. It's a fantastic interview that touches on his roots on the East Side's New York Avenue, and his life-long dedication to his city. Fish and Dan talk about the "Land Bank", an idea which was conceived by Dan and adopted by 100 other cities all over the country. They also discuss the critical elements required to impact the continued upward trajectory and momentum of Flint, and other cities just like it. Dan also explains the "Shrinking Cities" concept, the value and importance of historical preservation and highlights the success stories of the old Durant Motors/Fisher Body/GM Technology Center that morphed in to Diplomat Pharmacy, and the repurposing of the old Durant Hotel (notice a Durant theme here?) and how it is paying big dividends for the city center. LOTS of other great stuff too! A compelling conversation with a great fella!
