Technical Director of the Capitol Theater, ex-Tour Manager, Theater and Entertainment Manager May 22, 2019 (Segment One) The newly renovated Capitol Theater has a very seasoned leader. In fact, Chris Everson, the Technical Director for the Capitol is just about as close as you can come to having the perfect match of person and position.
Chris has been a staple of downtown Flint since 1991 when a chance encounter with Factory Two leader Joel Rash led to a career in music and entertainment that has spanned decades. With experience as a tour manager for acts like Juliette Lewis and others, theater management and entertainment direction for multiple venues, and technical expertise that goes back to a time when cassette tapes were still all the rage, you won't find a situation or challenge in the music and entreatment business that Chris hasn't solved. When Joel Rash shoved a wad of cash in to Chris' hands and asked him to 'watch the door at a punk concert in '91, he was impressed by not only the 6-6 Everson's stature, but his integrity too (not only didn't Chris steal any money, he was holding about ten times more in the palm of his hand by the time Rash returned). Needless to say, that started a career that has no end in sight. That's a huge boon to Flint and the downtown music and entertainment scene. Chris is tasked with building and booking the newly renovated multi-million dollar masterpiece that is the Capitol Theater. So far he is absolutely killing it! Large and boisterous crowds have been on hand for Black Violin, Mark Farner, The 80's music review, and the World Premiere of the fantastic sports documentary about the Detroit Red Wings five Russian stars in the 90's, "The Russian Five." The future holds an equally and even more diverse future with old time rock and roll bands, rap, country, blues, comedy and more on tap.
