Rico Phillips
Recipient of NHL's Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award
July 10, 2019 (Segment One)
Rico Phillips is back!  Except this time, he’s carrying along the NHL Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award!  We featured Rico on the show previously after he was nominated for the honor, helping to promote him to the delight of everyone in and around Flint Town.  Rico emerged from this year’s NHL Awards ceremony as the clear cut winner.  In fact, the vote was so lopsided, NHL officials had to triple check the numbers.  The massive outpouring of support from Flintstones everywhere simply blow everyone away.  This is one of the reasons Rico calls the trophy “a community award”.  He’s not wrong, either.  The community has certainly stepped up with donated equipment, ice time, and volunteers.  Rico is the catalyst and the conduit for the goodwill and unstoppable, ingrained community spirit that has always made Flint unique, and a true All-American city.  We couldn’t be happier to have Rico on board and featured on Fish and the Flint Chronicles!
