Kim Crawford
Author, "The Daring Trader"
February 13, 2018

How much do you know about this area's early history?  Gary chats with Kim Crawford, author of "The Daring Trader", a biography of Jacob Smith, the bold fur trapper who is credited with establishing the first permanent trading post along the the Grand Traverse, on the Flint River in what would be come the City of Flint.  A trapper, a soldier, a spy, an agent of influence, an entrepreneur, this controversial and mysterious man is little known, but was one of the most important and influential people in the creation of the State of Michigan, and establishment of Flint.  As Kim likes to say, "Was he a scoundrel?  A hero?  He was all of the above...he is the story of America."

Kim was a crime reporter for the Flint Journal, and is a student of history.  He is currently in the process of re-releasing an updated edition of a book surrounding a regiment of Civil War soldiers from Genesee County.

Kim's book is available on Amazon.
