Bodyguard and Chief of Security for Elvis; Record Company Entrepreneur; Policeman; Federal Judge
April 29, 2019 (Segment One)
It's a veritable cultural banquet this week on Fish and The Flint Chronicles! When you talk about exciting and diverse careers you're talking about Sam. Fish met Sam and they hit it off talking about American history, and segued in to their shared Scots-Irish heritage. The Scots-Irish are a HUGE part of the Flintstone story as they reflect the ethnic heritage of more than half of the cities historical denizens. Hailing form places like Blytheville, Arkansas, Tupelo, Mississippi, Steele Missouri, Memphis Tennesee, and other points in the south they came by the thousands to man the factories, and build the cars and infrastructure that build America. They also brought their music which meant Gospel, Country, R& B, Blues, and the original Rock and Roll. No one better wed those genres than Elvis Presley and his legend looms especially large in FlintTown.
While they were discussing this nearly forgotten heritage, Sam also shared that he used to be a police officer in Memphis, and later went on to work in the music industry. He also dropped in the fact that he had been a bodyguard to a musician. "Anyone I might have heard of?" Fish asked. When he came back with "ELVIS AARON PRESLEY", Fish knew their conversation had taken a turn for the hyper interesting. And man was he right!
Sam was Elvis' Chief of Security, the man who handled his affairs, his personal safety, and so much more. A card carrying member of the Memphis Mafia, Sam knows the real story behind all of the stories. His path led him to found a record company that included Josh Grobban and Michael Buble in their stable, and he even went on to finish lay school and work as a Federal Judge. Entrepreneur. Bodyguard. Security Chief. Police Officer. He's truly done it all and seen it all. Best of all he's here telling Fish all about it all!

He later came home to Flint to work with the Flint Metro Housing Department as a leader of their Spanish speaking Bilingual Services leveraging his extensive governmental experience in helping Hispanic members of the community with housing needs and budget issues.
He's also the author of the brand new historical novel "Shaken Earth", which explores the explosive interrelations of the Hitler led German Nazi National Socialist movement with ongoing turmoil in Guatemala in the 1930's. His own father was involved in TWO REVOLUTIONS! This is entertaining experience speaking and it's exciting stuff.
