Flint History Public Relations, Advertising, Business Owner September 28, 2023 J. Dallas Dort is the first “Mr. Flint”. The co-founder of The Flint Road Cart Company and Durant Dort Carriage Company, heavily involved in Buick, General Motors, and Chevrolet, and founder of his own automobile company the Dort Motor Car Company.
He also founded the Industrial Mutual Association (the IMA), co-founded the Flint Golf Club, and funded the Flint parks system, and the Flint Music culture, to name a few of his key contributions. His grandson of the same name, Dallas Dort, is on hand to talk about the legacy of his grandfather, J. Dallas, and tell his own tale, as well as discuss his uncle, Dallas Webb Dort, and his role in the Truman Administration and the Marshall Plan. He had the unique experience and path to follow and it is full of drama, intrigue and plenty of great stories.
