Local Flint Sports Legends November 15, 2019 Baseball handed out its major awards this week, hoops is picking up steam, and and football season is heating up! So we thought we’d throw a little local flavor at it all on ”Fish and The Flint Chronicles” today! ⚾️ 🏈 🏀
I’m joined by former Flushing Raider, and Mott Bear, Joe Boulton, Joe played on the last Flint squad to compete for a baseball National Title, beating Major League Baseball Hall of Famer, Barry Larkin, along the way. He also competed in football, at Flushing, and hoops, at both Mott and Flushing (where he helped lead the best Flushing hoops team ever). Tony Szabo is in the house too! “Big Zabe” is a Flint Central athletic legend, playing baseball, football and basketball. He went on to play at Western Michigan University, until an injury sidelined him. He took up softball, and became one of the best in Flint at that, too. His Central football squad is considered one of the best in Flint area history. Tony started on both offense and defense. Also with us is Jamie Cochran - aka The Minor League National “Rolaids Relief Man” of The Year. Along his career path, he struck out Ken Griffey Jr., AND Derek Jeter. He played on a great Flint Central team, then starred at the University of Detroit, before joining the St.Louis Cardinals organization. Although a serious injury derailed his baseball career, he still holds Minor League records that will likely never be broken! |
