Rapper, Dayton Family Dia "Shotgun" Peacock Rapper, Top Authority Ruce Duce, Ghetto Historian October 27, 2021 While the East Coast vs. West Coast battles were raging somewhere in the middle of the country the hardest of hardcore hitters were honing their craft. The Dayton Family started in 1993 in Flint, Michigan and the legend grew quickly. Along with Flint groups like Top Authority and acts like MC Breed, Flint became a laboratory for the art form and set a new standard for the aggressive and authentic vibe that was sweeping the genre.
When it comes to ‘keeping it real’ few do it better than the crew we have in the house for this show. Ira “Bootleg” Dorsey one of the founding members of The Dayton Family, Dia "Shotgun" Peacock a founder of the group Top Authority were two of the iconic leaders of the entire movement. When it came to understanding and living the street scene, few did it in a more legit way than they did. Moreover, they were craftsman on the mic and in the studio with double tracking, and hooks that rival anything put out in the 90s. They’re joined by “Ghetto Historian” Ruce Duce, and others to make it a genuine family affair. Together they join Fish to break the era down, what they’ve accomplished, and where they’re headed next. There’s lots of stories, a few surprises, and a seriously good vibe in The Aquarium for this one, and it’s a straight up classic! |
